Scott Murphy
"An artist from a family of math junkies."
I began in sales at the age of eight, with my first paper route. I progressed
through several jobs that allowed me to learn business, learn people,
and learn service. I had noticed that the business world was
becoming more and more reliant on computers. With a head for math and logic,
I pursued a degree in programming and computer animation. That was followed
by grad school with dual areas of emphasis in Intelligent Agents and
The Mathematics of computing. I was recruited
by KPMG Consulting while still in graduate school and allowed myself to be
wooed away to the DC offices where I was a critical part of the technical
management team, creating an intranet portal for the company's employees.
Since that time, I have assisted companies add value
through Internet ventures by both developing and maintaining a wide range
of web sites and services.
Invited to assist with coaching high school athletes in 1998, I began an
association with the sport I had been exposed to my entire life. With record-holders
in the family, and having been a hurdler/jumper, it was a natural fit. I
have been fortunate enough to work with some tremendous student-athletes
while developing championship teams. From Fauquier high school (1998-2005),
through the Cayman Islands (2005-2006), Alcovy high school (2006-2010), and
finally Monsignor Donovan Catholic High School (2013-2019).
I have been able to pass along the valuable lessons I learned from sport.
Those who know me refer to me as a teacher, an athlete, a coach, a geek,
or some combination of these. I have always thought of it simply as the ability
to see patterns, and the relentless pursuit of my goals. |
